Challenge

With no formal brief, I reviewed previous event materials and spoke with past organizers and instructors to understand what needed to change.

Re: IGNITE was being relaunched from the previous IGNITE awards without an established visual direction. The event needed to feel worthy of a premium student awards night, represent three Creative Technologies programs, and establish an identity that could continue beyond a single year.

Solution

I built Re: IGNITE as a permanent master brand with a flexible annual campaign layer. For 2026, The Prism became that campaign expression, using light and refraction to represent student potential becoming visible.

Concept exploration

I developed three creative routes that explored different balances of prestige, institutional credibility and student energy.

After a lot of discussions, feedbacks and a committee vote, with the Dean of SADT playing a leading role in the final decision, The Prism was selected for development. It best matched the premium, cinematic awards-night atmosphere the team wanted while still feeling connected to SADT’s creative technology programs.

Master brand

The Prism gave Re: IGNITE 2026 its visual expression, but it was never meant to define the event forever.

To address longevity, I separated the master identity from its annual campaign layer. The core brand remains recognizable, while each future edition can introduce its own visual concept.

For 2026, that expression was The Prism.

Result

On April 29, 2026, Re: IGNITE came together as a live awards night celebrating work across SADT’s three Creative Technologies programs.

Re:IGNITE changed how I think about identity work.

The most important decision was not a logo or a visual effect. It was separating the long-term event identity from the campaign created for one year.

Working through weekly stakeholder reviews also changed how I approach feedback. Instead of treating critique as something that happens after the design is finished, I learned to use it as part of the process of finding a stronger solution.
